Shifter Bushing Product Buyers Guide

This article is just a quick reference guide to help you determine which shifter rebuild kit you will need for your specific vehicle. During a vehicle's production line it is common for BMW to change the transmission or shifter linkage. This guide will outline each vehicle model we offer shifter rebuild kits for and the applicable rebuild kit associated with it.

E30

Early Plate Style Shift Carrier

All vehicles made 05/1986 and before. Unfortunately, we do not have a shifter bushing kit for these vehicles however it is possible to replace your plate style shifter with the linkage style shifter found on late-model vehicles.

 

Late Linkage Style Shifter

Transmission Part Number: 23001221205

All vehicles produced 06/1986 and on will have the linkage style shifter. If your vehicle fits within this production range you will be able to use the E30 Delrin Round Shifter Bushing Kit

E36

Getrag 5 Speed 1992-1995:

Transmission Part Number: 23001434410

These are found in all manual E36s up to 1996 in 318, 325, and 325is vehicles. If you have a 323i which is a 1996 and on the vehicle you will also need this rebuild kit. The E36 325/318/323 Round Shifter Bushing Kit is applicable to these vehicles.

ZF 5 Speed 1996-1999

Transmission part number: 23007503993

These are found in all manual E36s from 1996 and on. For this application, you will need the E36 M3/328/Z3 Oval Shifter Bushing Kit

E46

These are fairly straight forward as each model has it's own transmission and corresponding shifter linkage. Find your vehicle below and you will be directed to the appropriate shifter bushing kit.
