Instructions for Garagistic Mercedes 190E Garagistic Front Control Arm Bushings (FCAB) Install - K0684
Over time your 190e's rubber bushings will fail and that is where we come in! The Garagisitc 190e Polyurethane Front Control Arm Bushings are a great way to improve front-end stability and increase steering feel.
Installation
Shown above is a measurement between the driver and passenger control arm clevis widths. As you can see they are not the same width.
During test installations, we found that the 190e front control mounting points on the chassis vary in width from anywhere in between 97mm-105mm. This is because the front control arm mounting points act like sandwich plates. In some cases, this means that you will see that the clevis is wider loosened rather than when it's tightened. Given that this Mercedes metal is over 30 years old, you will see some that some clevis widths vary.
Installation Tip
This makes the 97mm bushing race difficult to fit at times due to every chassis varying in width. After the bushings have been installed into the arm, we recommend using a jack to lift the control arm into place and alignment tool to center the bushing. Once the race is aligned with the holes in the chassis the bolt should slide right through.
