Which odometer gear set do I need for my Mercedes?

What gears are replaced?

The VDO odometer gears we offer for the Mercedes W107/W126/W127 replace the three gears that disintegrate over time.

They consist of:

The E1 gear, a small white 12 toothed gear that drives the others.

The middle gear is a 12 inner toothed, 48 outer toothed gear (12/48).

The third gear that is replaced is the variable gear and can be one of the following teeth counts:

12/48, 13/48, 16/48, 18/48.

How to tell which "third gear" you need

Mercedes set general guidelines for what gears go in what models, but there are so many exceptions that the only real way to tell is to take your odometer apart and inspect the original gears.

If the gears are in decent shape, you should be able to count the number of inner and outer teeth on each gear. If you are not sure of how to do this or if there is not much left of the original gears to count the teeth on, please take photos of the gears and send them to [e-mail]. We will then determine what gear set is compatible with your particular vehicle.
